Introduction
There are little to no products on the market today that meet the software demands of robotic platforms. Several robotic operating systems are required to help push the industry forward.
History
Animusoft researched and developed a robotic operating system in early 2004. The goal was to have an open, scalable and robust operating system which met the demands of the industry and consumers.
Overview
ROS has been designed around a scalable and flexible architecture. The architecture allows developers to expand upon ROS quickly and easily.
Here are just a few of the sub-subsystems within Animusoft ROS:
- Messaging – The messaging subsystem is the hub of the system utilized by all subsystems of ROS
- Processing – The processing subsystem is utilized to perform any specialized processing for ROS
- Audio – The audio subsystem is used to communicate externally via audio devices such as a microphone or speaker
- Video – The video subsystem is used for video recognition as well as the project of images to any medium
- Motion – The motion subsystem is used to handle all robotic movements
- Localization – The localization subsystem is used for tracking, navigation and positioning of the robot
This architecture is flexible and scalable. It leverages today’s common technologies, frameworks and patterns to accomplish its goals. This architecture easily allows for additional subsystems to be appended or extended by developers.
